New blog

I've been kind of phasing Travelling Amber out, hoping that maybe eventually I'll feel like writing about my life again but for the moment not really planning on it. Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about my life and other interests are starting to take over, like my professional life.

Lately some really interesting things have been happening for me and this Thursday I'll be going to a trade show in the industry to represent a brand. Frankly, it's kind of a big deal for me seeing as how just a year ago I had no idea what I was talking about. Somewhere along the line I morphed from teacher to trainer/coach to something else... and now I am much more credible and much easier to sell, so with my network expanding it's time for me to try new things and think about where my future lies as well.

I'll keep updating here but not as regularly as I once did. The motivation just isn't there anymore. I have less and less contact with my family and friends back in America and more and more of a life here in France. Victor is getting bigger and easier to manage and none of my details are as good as they once were, so I'd rather leave expectations lying low.

However, I do finally have a new home for my other project. I've been dying to blog about teaching, lesson planning and pedagogy for months now. I've been brushing up on my Illustrator skills to try and design some of my own teaching stuff. Basically, I want to share my materials, my lesson plans, and my ideas with other teachers. So I decided to start a new blog all about teaching where I can really talk about my day to day life. you can find me here, at ESL By Amber.

So that's that. Life continues as normal over here after a very successful Thanksgiving dinner this weekend and a very busy week lies ahead of me with trains on both Wednesday and Thursday for two very different jobs. I'm really looking forward to wearing the "International Relations and Communications Consultant" hat at the trade show and hope that I will manage to speak with confidence. Otherwise the house is still falling apart, the girls are still great, and everything is moving along slowly.

So I guess next week I'll be able to talk about what an international trade show is like and how I managed. I'll also be able to talk about the kids Christmas party at work and our annual Christmas bash too. The rest of the month is looking good so long as I can keep my schedule organized. I'm really looking forward to what lies ahead of me professionally in 2013. I think it might be "my year". We'll see.

Good luck! Part of my new role too is attending trade shows and talking with current & present customers. It's nerve-wracking, but also a good challenge!!

Sounds exciting, Amber. Good luck with the new direction your life is taking.

I hope the trade fair goes off well. Don't forget to show some cleavage. :)

Didn't realise that you were back writing here until I saw something on FB yesterday... I'm pleased your back Amber and I hope that writing will continue to be therapeutic to you. I am thinking about reviving PIF but wondering where to start.

I hope everything goes well for you at the trade fair. I would disagree with Sarah's comment above - I did once show some cleavage at a trade fair and all I had were dirty old men staring at my chest area and wasn't at all taken seriously :( I was around your age too...

Best of luck! x
